Pupils from Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 at St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School in Hartlepool enjoyed an inspiring and hands‑on STEM experience during a LEGO Robotics workshop in Darlington. The visit offered a valuable opportunity for children to explore engineering, coding and problem solving in a creative and engaging way.

Throughout the day, pupils worked in teams to design and build their own robots using LEGO engineering kits. Once their models were complete, the children programmed their robots to follow a set path, testing and refining their designs as they went. This practical challenge encouraged pupils to think logically, experiment with ideas, and collaborate effectively to achieve a shared goal.

The workshop provided an excellent introduction to robotics and digital skills, sparking curiosity about how technology shapes the world around us. Many pupils left feeling inspired about future careers in engineering, computing and innovation.

Staff leading the workshop were full of praise for our students. They commented on how well presented, polite and enthusiastic the children were, and how confidently they represented St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School throughout the session.

The day was a fantastic success and a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to extend their learning beyond the classroom. We are proud of how they embraced every challenge and demonstrated such strong teamwork and perseverance.

We look forward to more STEM opportunities that help our children develop the skills they need for the future.
